New Transgender Policy published
In January 2022, FAI and the FAI Medico and Physiological Commission (CIMP) embarked on a joint journey to formulate a comprehensive policy focused on fairness, inclusion and non-discrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender variance. This collaborative effort aimed to create a balanced framework that upholds the values of equality and respect in air sports.
This policy supports the vision that every individual has the inherent right to participate in sport without discrimination, while enjoying the utmost respect for their health, safety and dignity. At the same time, the integrity of competitive sport, particularly at the highest levels of organised competition, depends on the establishment of a level playing field. It is imperative that no athlete has an unfair or disproportionate advantage over their competitors.
Nothing in this policy is intended to undermine in any way the requirement to comply with the World Anti-Doping Code and the WADA International Standards. This policy will be subject to review by CIMP considering any further scientific or medical developments.
