WPRS Update 1st August
The World Pilot Ranking has been updated for 1st August in Paragliding, Hang Gliding and Rigid Wings. Note that the date on the rankings shows September 1st because the ladders are recalculated every 3 months to even out the effects of the Northern and Southern hemisphere competition circuit. There are several useful additions due to be added to the rankings soon, including the ability to sort by country, to separate the Women’s PG ranking, see who is scoring for a nations ranking, and a “last updated” feature. Paragliding Accuracy rankings have also been published.
PARAGLIDING Added were the Ba-Wu Open, Portuguese (Douro), Canadian Nats, World Cup Serbia, Dutch Open, British Open Piedrahita, Croatian Nats, World Cup Monte Cornizzolo and the Loma Bola, with apologies for the late addition of this competition. The following have not been entered as the results have not been received: Romanian Open, US Nationals, 2nd German Champs, Portuguese Champs Copa Iberico, Finnish Cup, Belgian Mountain, Greek Nats Mt Kaimaktsalan, Nordic Open, Lithuanian open, Portuguese Champs (XC Challenge), Greek Nats Mt Kalana, Copa Pirineos, Staufen Cup, Monteavena-Guarnieri Trophy, Stranik Open, Abtenau Open, Shambala Cup, Slovenian/Austrian Open, Loma Lisa. From 2004 Korean Presidents Cup, Polish Cornizzola Cup, French Deux Alpes, Berga Spanish Open, Gianni Cerroni Open, X Copa Pirineus, Slovak Nationals, Christian Maurer (SUI) leads from Bruce Goldsmith (GBR) in 2nd. Christian Biasi (ITA) stays 3rd but now only 1 point ahead of Torsten Siegel (GER). Borja Rodriguez (ESP) jumps 16 places to 5th, 1 point ahead of Tomas Brauner (CZE) in 6th. Toni Caniglia (SUI) continues his rise, gaining a place to 7th joined by Paul Schmit (BEL) who jumps 76 places to join the top 10 in =7th. Jin Oh Kim (KOR) slides to 9th and Martin Orlik (CZE) gains 7 places to finish up the top 10. In the nations rankings Italy lead, well clear from the Czech Republic, but Switzerland moves up to 3rd. HANG GLIDING (Class 1) Added this month were the Bavarian open, Eva Menyhardt Open, Flytec Open, Vaagaa Open, Canadian Nats, Hungarian Open. I am still waiting for full results from the following competitions: Japan Chamionships, Dell’Isola open. And still missing from 2004 are 1st Sertao Voanda, Greek Nats Mt Kitheron, Mt Timifis and Mt Kozakas, Montana, Portuguese Open, Korean League. Oleg Bondarchuk (UKR) still leads, with Mario Alonzi (FRA) 2nd, Gerolf Heinrichs (AUT) 3rd and Johnny Durand Jnr remains 4th. Oliver Barthelmes (GER) gains 4 places to 5th and Attila Bertok (HUN) moves to 6th. Brett Hazlett (CAN) drops to 7th, Kraig Coomber (AUS) 8th, and Robert Reisinger (AUT) and Raymond Caux (FRA) tie in 9th. France stay in top place, followed by Austria and Australia. CLASS 5 The Flytec Champs were finally added with the Bavarian Open. Results not yet received are the Dell’Isola Open, Upper Austrian Champs, Slovenian Open, German Open, French Nationals. Primoz Gricar finally takes the top spot, well ahead of Alex Ploner (ITA). One point behind is Toni Raumauf (AUT) with Johann Posch (AUT) in 4th. David Chaumet (FRA) drops to 5th and Walter Geppert (AUT) stays 6th. Christian Ciech (ITA) slides to 7th two points ahead of Jacques Bott (FRA) in 8th, Manfred Trimmel (AUT) stays 9th and Gunther Tschurnig (AUT) jumps 13 places to join the top 10. In the nations ranking Austria have a commanding lead from Italy with France in 3rd. PARAGLIDING ACCURACY The British Nationals and the Croatian Open were added and no competitions were deleted. The Serbian and Montenegro Open results have not been received yet. The top 10 stays the same, with Matjaz Sluga, Matjaz Feraric and Jaka Gorenc stays as the top 3. In the nations rankings Slovenia lead, GBR is 2nd and Serbia and Montenegro 3rd. CLASS 2 The Flytec results have not been added, awaiting confirmation of FAI licenses. Manfred Ruhmer (AUT) is in 1st place with Brian Porter (USA) in 2nd and Bob Baier (GER) 3rd.
