The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Organising Committee has announced that eight International Federations have been shortlisted for potential inclusion in the programme of the Games and will participate in phase II of the selection process:

• World Baseball Softball Confederation – WBSC
• World Bowling - WB
• World Karate Federation - WKF
• International Roller Sports Federation – FIRS
• International Federation of Sport Climbing - IFSC
• World Squash Federation - WSF
• International Surfing Association - ISA
• International Wushu Federation – IWUF

Unfortunately, FAI, which proposed Paragliding Accuracy and Paragliding Cross Country as potential events, is not part of this list.

Although air sports didn't make the cut this time, FAI will continue to work hard to see its next attempt to be included in future Olympic Games successful.
