Pan American PG flying on
Day 4 and 5 were the first flyable days in the competition, with very good weather.
On Day 4, the task was an ambitious 74km. All 28 pilots took off and 7 made end of speed section with 5 to goal. Ricardo Gomez (COL) was the winner of the task with Andy Macrae (USA) second and Francisco Mantraras (ARG) third. The Nation rankings are Colombia, Argentina, USA, Chile and Venezuela. The scores are close for the top 5 pilots so the competition will be strong for the next tasks with many possible winners.
On Day 5, the conditions were fairly good but wind direction expected to change during the day, making the take-off difficult. So the task was set to 62km with goal near a swimmingpool where pilots were invited for cold drinks and Empanadas, an Argentinian speciality snack. There were 10 pilots in goal and tracks are now being downloaded for scoring. Provisional results of the day show the top 3 places to be: Edinson Alvarez (COL), Michel Guillemot (ARG) and Daniel Rivas (COL). Very competitive for the top pilots in the competition.
